Combination Treatment for Hair Loss

Author: Robert J. Mirabile, M.D.

Tailoring hair restoration options for our patients is very important at our practice. In conjunction with NeoGraft, we offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), which can be easily acquired from every patient’s own blood. After processing the blood in our Magellan PRP centrifuge, we can concentrate the growth factors in that blood over 8x. This growth factor enriched plasma can be used to stop hair loss and create thicker, stronger hair for our patients. Three treatments given over 3-4 months usually result in the cessation of hair loss and a better-looking head of hair.

The process of obtaining blood and treating the scalp can be done in one hour or less using only local anesthesia. Patients may have a small amount of swelling, but can often resume normal activities in 24-48 hours. The procedure also does not result in any scarring.

We strongly recommend PRP for many of our patients to both prevent hair loss and reverse its effects. By using oral and topical medications partnered with PRP, we are often able to help wake up dormant hair follicles. PRP is equally effective for both men and women, and has extremely impressive results.
